No more dry skin this winter
Aticle Banner Winter is not exactly kind to our skin. In fact, it is a time when our skin suffers the worst form of damage with excess dryness and increased UV exposure.

The lack of humidity in the air dries the skin, making it itchy, red and flaky, and even causing cracking and bleeding. Plus, most people are more lax with sunscreen because it is “winter” however, the damaging UV rays are still present and are more intense in areas with snow to reflect them back to your skin. Needless to say, this leads to long-term damage. However, it is within our means to minimize this damage.
  • The cold weather forces us to use hot water to wash and bathe, but hot water dries the skin further. Limit bath times to five to 10 minutes once a day, and try to use warm or lukewarm water instead of hot water.
  • Retain skin moisture by applying a thick cream twice a day. Vaseline is a good alternative although some people don’t like it due to its greasiness. Apply a moisturizer on the hands each time after washing your hands as hands tend to dry even more. Skip products containing alcohol or fragrances which dry the skin even further.
  • Use broad spectrum sunscreen SPF every day no matter what.
  • Get rid of the dead skin cells on the face with a gentle exfoliation process. Don’t overdo this however, as excessive exfoliation could damage the skin. Twice a month is enough.
  • Don’t scratch or wear materials which irritate the skin.

Three Cosmetic Procedures You Can Not Live Without

Fraxel for youthful, rejuvenated skin
Aticle Banner You may spend a lot of time and money on expensive creams and lotions from the department store or online to maintain a young and fresh complexion. Despite all your best efforts, your skin may still look tired, sallow and dull. It may be plagued with acne and other scars, sun spots and pigmentation, freckles, lines and wrinkles. How do you dispel the dullness and get the glow back to your face?

Well, it certainly is no cause for despair as laser technology can go a long way in helping the skin become rejuvenated and refreshed. One of the most suitable and effective lasers to restore the healthy glow to the face and get rid of brown spots is the Fraxel. The fractionated laser directs a beam of focused light onto the skin in thousands of microscopic channels. The energy thus heats the skin and stimulates the natural production of collagen, which is an essential component to heal and refresh the skin. It also can selectively target the brown in the brow spots to even out your complexion.

Fraxel is popular due to its minimally invasive nature. Since the skin is not broken or opened, there is no risk of infections, and healing is quicker and easier. One to two treatments bring results for most patients. It also requires minimal downtime, there is no need for soaking the skin and hiding out for a week. The beauty of Fraxel is that it is a single treatment that helps to clear up your complexion, build collagen and give your skin that healthy glow so you Look Stunning. Always.

If you wish to experience rejuvenated skin and a radiant complexion, call Dr. Amanda Lloyd of Skin and Vein Institute at (760) 642-6674 or email info@saviderm.com for top quality Fraxel treatments in Encinitas, CA.
