Are all skin lesions and growths a form of skin cancer?
Aticle Banner A lesion on the skin may be anything from a skin tag to an area of skin cancer. It is critical that patients with unusual growths on their skin visit a dermatologist for an evaluation to ensure that the growth is not an indication of skin cancer. National Healthy Skin Month in November
November is the National Healthy Skin Month when we pay even more attention to the largest organ of our body. Of course, that doesn’t mean we should care for our skin in November and forget all about it in December. For our skin to serve us better our entire life, we should always shower it with the love and care it deserves and now is a good time to start.

So, here are a few skincare tips:
  • Drink plenty of water to keep the skin well-hydrated especially during the winter season when the skin tends to dry and crack.
  • Wash your face twice a day, especially after exercises, with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water.
  • Your skin may be dry, normal, combination, oily, or sensitive. Use skincare products accordingly.
  • Use a good quality moisturizing cream or lotion to prevent drying and itching, especially in the colder months. For best absorption, apply when the skin is still damp.
Petroleum jelly is a good option. It can also be applied on nails and for minor injuries.
  • Protect your skin from the sun. Always wear protective clothing, wear sunglasses and use a water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF above 30.
  • Prevent blisters, corns, and calluses on your feet by wearing properly-fitting shoes. Wear good quality socks and keep toe nails trimmed.
  • Examine your skin regularly for any signs of cancer or other abnormalities. Visit a dermatologist immediately if you notice anything out of the ordinary.
