Nothing to fear – gentle root canal therapy is right here (at your trusted dentist’s office)!
Aticle BannerRoot canal therapy has a reputation of being painful, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Many of Huron Dental Centre’s patients compare the treatment to a simple filling for a cavity, only your visit may run a little longer. Notably, patients finally get relief after struggling with toothaches, swelling, sensitivity, and many sleepless nights and half-eaten meals. Treatment resolves pain that can arise from any number of conditions, including:
  • Deep cavities and decay
  • Damage from repeated dental procedures
  • Deep cracks

Getting the whiteness back to your teeth
Discoloured teeth don’t lend themselves to a winning smile. Most people with such teeth are shy and feel uncomfortable about smiling with others, making it difficult for them to build and maintain sturdy, long-term relationships.

Why do some of us end up with such unsightly teeth? The reasons could be many and may include:
  • Certain foods and drinks such as tea, coffee and wine
  • Smoking and tobacco products
  • Genetics
  • Some medications—certain antibiotics, antihistamines, and mouth rinses
  • Poor dental hygiene—inadequate brushing and flossing
  • Some diseases and treatments including radiation and chemotherapy
  • Aging
  • Dental material such as certain amalgam restorations
  • Environmental factors including excessive fluoride in water
  • Trauma
How can tooth discolouration be prevented?
  • Minimizing or avoiding smoking and the consumption of teeth-staining food and drinks.
  • Maintaining regular dental hygiene. Brushing twice a day and also after consuming teeth-staining food and drinks, flossing, and using a mouthwash. Follow proper techniques when doing so.
  • Going for regular dental visits and teeth cleaning at least once every six months. Sometimes, teeth discolouration could occur without any identifiable reason. Regular dental checkups are especially important in such instances.
Treatment options
  • Using whitening/bleaching products such as toothpastes which could be prescribed or bought over-the-counter
  • Teeth bonding
  • Veneers
  • Root canal therapy
  • Whitening procedures to be carried out by a dentist
