Getting Rid of Tooth Plaque
By now you must have realized that tooth plaque is an unavoidable part of your life—everyone has it! Plaque is the thin and sticky film that forms on the surface of the teeth when bacteria build up on it. When plaque forms on the teeth and stays on for too long, it eats into the teeth and makes them weak. In turn, this causes decay and gum disease. It is not possible to completely remove these bacteria from the mouth, but your dentist can guide you regarding how to prevent the buildup of plaque.

While we know that brushing twice every day is important, it is equally important to brush soon after every meal so as to remove plaque soon after it develops. It is also important to brush before going to bed because otherwise the plaque sits on the teeth throughout the night. It may also be appropriate to use a soft-bristled toothbrush as brushes with hard bristles can be rough on the gums. Replacing your toothbrush every three to four months can also take a toll on how well your brush gets the job done.

In order to keep the plaque away, it is also important for you to get in between the spaces between the teeth. For this, you have to floss at least once every day. In case you are not comfortable with flossing, consider dental picks, water flossers or pre-threaded flossers, among other options.

There’s no right time to brush or floss—just do it!

If any of these symptoms persist for longer than two weeks, you should schedule a check-up for an oralcancer evaluation. Give Adams Dental Associates a call at (916) 999-1302 / (916) 927-0800

Yellow or Stained Teeth?
Coffee and wine can be a woman’s best friends, but they can take a toll on her teeth. A smile makeover can quickly brighten her smile with whitening treatments that can work in just an hour, or over a few weeks at home – whichever she prefers.

Cracked or Chipped Teeth?
Accidents can happen to women who work and play hard and damage their teeth. Cosmetic treatments ranging from simple dental bonding to crowns or veneers can help make damaged teeth whole again for a flawless smile.

Gapped or Overcrowded Teeth?
Unevenly spaced teeth are a common problem that can seem difficult to overcome. Either veneers or a cosmetically-appealing adult orthodontic treatment could quickly create a straight, uniform smile.

Missing Teeth?
A woman of any age could lose a tooth for any number of reasons, but her smile doesn’t have to remain incomplete. Attractive restorative options such as dental implants or crowns and bridges can replace missing teeth permanently, effectively restoring a fully functional, beautiful smile.

Do you feel insecure about any of these dental flaws or do you know someone who does? Ask your dentist about the recommended cosmetic treatments for a smile makeover that will give you or a woman you love the confidence to face the world with a smile.
