Experience the many benefits of Myobrace service
Myobrace is a type of “myofunctional therapy.” The idea is to resolve myofunctional habits that cause the jaws to develop incorrectly. Such therapies are based on “orofacial myology,” which is the study of the mouth and facial muscles with a special interest in the lips, tongue, and cheeks. It’s these structures that are responsible for many functions, including breathing, sucking, chewing, swallowing, and speech. Treatment can involve both dental appliances and educating and training patients on habits such as “oral rest posture,” which refers to how the lips and tongue are positioned.

How biological dentistry tackles periodontal disease
Periodontal disease is an infection which the Webster’s II New Riverside University Dictionary describes as “an invasion by pathogenic microorganisms of a bodily part in which the conditions are favorable for growth, production of toxins, and resulting injury to tissue.”

Periodontal disease is caused by protozoan, bacterial, viral or fungal pathogens. When it progresses and starts displaying clinical symptoms, it means the defenses of the body are being challenged, and that the immune system fails to protect the body from the invaders. High levels of proteolytic enzymes and endotoxins are produced by these periodontal disease pathogens. They are linked to serious health conditions including cardiovascular disease.

Periodontal disease is a chronic degenerative disease with long-term effects. It’s often refractory, meaning it will be active or not, depending on the effect that environmental or other risk factors like smoking have on it.

With advancements made in periodontal dentistry, treatment methods have also changed, with local and systemic risk factors, and causes and not just effects being taken into account. They aim to help patients achieve their best long-term periodontal health goals and increase their resistance to periodontal infections, rather than removing healthy body parts.

The methods used to detect the numbers and types of pathogens in treatments vary, from the basic clinical exam to phase contrast microscopes and DNA probes. There are medicines, and procedures which don’t rely on drugs for eliminating the infection. Ozone treatment, laser treatment, pocket irrigation, and nutritional support are a part of biological periodontal therapy.
