Botox from a Dermatologist
Any dermatologist will tell you that Botox has been successfully used by them over several years to treat facial creases and wrinkles. Botox works by preventing signals from the nerves traveling to the muscles. Hence, the injected muscle cannot contract and thereby the wrinkles relax and their appearance softens.

Botox is the typical treatment option for forehead lines, frown lines and also crow’s feet, i.e. lines around the eye. Wrinkles that are caused by gravity and sun damage are unlikely to respond to Botox. However, Botox can also be used on lip lines, the chin and the corner of the neck and mouth.

The entire procedure takes just a few minutes and you will not need any anesthesia. The dermatologist will inject the Botox using a fine needle into specific muscles. You are likely to experience only very minor discomfort during the procedure. Typically, you will be able to see the full effects of this procedure within 7 to 10 days. You must also stop taking any anti-inflammatory medications and aspirin for a period of one week before the treatment to reduce any instance of bruising.

The results of the Botox treatment will last anywhere from three to six months. Although you may require a touch-up treatment, the lines and wrinkles typically appear less severe with time as the muscles get trained to be in a relaxed state.
