Teeth TLC for a happy, healthy summer
Summer is busy! Take time to truly relax, and make time for your family’s teeth. Oral health should never take a holiday. Dr. Sona & Team recommend:
  • Checkups before summer travel - Beat the back-to-school rush. Also, toothaches are no fun, especially when you’re on vacation. Treat conditions before you go to avoid the pain and stress.
  • ·
  • Dental First-Aid/travel kits - Summer is as good of a time as any to stock up on items like travel-sized toothpaste, cold packs, gauze, an extra toothbrush, and a lidded container to hold a knocked-out tooth. Be prepared.
  • ·
  • Prevention - Some injuries are unavoidable, but you know that old saying, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”? Practice this statement by visiting with Dr. Sona about customized mouth-guards for contact sports like soccer. She also checks mouth-guards to make sure they’re fitting properly for ultimate protection of not only your child’s teeth, but also of his or her jaw, and to decrease the risk of concussions.
  • ·
  • Plenty of healthy snacks - Take advantage of fresh produce, as teeth-friendly as they are beneficial for whole-body health.
Call 336-804-8668 to schedule pre-travel checkups. Now, get out there and enjoy all summer has to offer!
Oral health: A year-round journey, but the start makes all the difference!
Your baby’s oral health and development is off to a sunny start when you partner with Board-certified pediatric dentist, Dr. Sona Isharani. Ideally, mothers make an initial appointment at Triad Pediatric Dentistry within six months of the appearance of the first tooth. Be assured that baby’s “dental home” will be ready and waiting!

The first visit is about acquainting you with our office, and Dr. Sona answering any questions you may have. Oral health is truly a family affair, and won’t be like pulling teeth when your child:
  • Has always known brushing, flossing, and good habits. Not cleaning properly will be considered out-of-the-norm.
  • Understands effective cleaning. Brush diligently along the gumline, the tongue, and all tooth surfaces. Plaque and bacteria collect here. Half-hearted brushing or flossing often means the hardest-to-reach places are missed and that’s, naturally, where cavities tend to develop.
  • Is an active participant from the start. Kids who have a say in a type of toothpaste, such as particular flavor or cartoon character featured on the packaging, are more likely to stick with it and even look forward to the routine.
Dr. Sona can also discuss preventive products with you and your child, such as dental sealants, fluoride treatment, and sports mouth-guards. Schedule your next visit. Call 336-804-8668.
